    Description: 
    A middle-aged and bearded James A. Bradley stands with head turned slightly to the proper right, holding an overcoat and fedora in his proper left hand. His proper right hand is raised and he holds a small object. On all sides of the plinth are bas-relief scenes depicting the settling of the Asbury area in the late 19th century, including a horse and carriage, shown on the front. A curvy floral vine rises up from the top of the sculpture base behind Bradley's legs.

    Remarks: 
    James A. Bradley, owner of a New York City brush manufacturing business and philanthropist, founded the City of Asbury Park in 1871. He served as the city's first executive and, for many years, directed the municipality. Bradley also served as a United States Senator. IAS files contain articles from the Asbury Park Evening Press, June 28, 1921 and June 30, 1921, pg. 1-2; and excerpt from the Bradley Memorial Committee publication "James A.
