    Description: 
    A relief plaque featuring a bust of Brigadier General William P. Benton dressed in military uniform and wearing a mustache and beard. The lower portion of the plaque bears an inscription. The plaque is mounted on the upper front of a two-sectioned base consisting of a stele atop a pedestal.

    Remarks: 
    Brigadier General William P. Benton commanded the first brigade of U. S. Volunteers from March 29 through May 31, 1863, during the Vicksburg campaign. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 03362). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. Cost $275 paid by the Federal Government.
