Lent to the Albright Art Gallery 1908 exhibition "A Collection of Pictures by Miss Annie I. Crawford and Miss Emma Kahn." From the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy's Academy Notes, vol. 4, no. 1, May 1908 "Misses Crawford and Kaan have collaborated in two figure pictures: 'Romance,' a young woman wearing a purple gown with a black lace mantilla, represented life-size, three-quarter length, standing out-of-doors, with a landscape background under a late afternoon effect, and 'Rachel,' the head and bust of an attractive young woman, in relief against an early evening landscape. The face is in little more than half light in this picture, but the flesh painting is unusually fine, and the work as a whole is in the highest degree creditable to both artists. It has the charm one looks for in the heads of certain of the early Italian masters."
