Jane Juliet Fulton Shall Holt was born on Aug. 24, 1801 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of David and Elizabeth (Savin) Fulton. She died on May 3, 1891. She married her first husband, William Shall, in Gallatin, Tennessee. She married her second husband, Dr. David Holt, on July 25, 1835. Her family moved to Arkansas in 1830 shortly after her father, David Fulton, had been appointed secretary of the territory of Arkansas by President Andrew Jackson. The painting was executed in Baltimore, Maryland.
