    Portrait of the Safford family standing in a landscape. At left, Dr. John Safford (1789-1842) and his second wife, Clarissa Frances Hurlburt (b. 1799), link arms. At center is their son, John J. Safford (1824-1871) holding a hat and flowers. At right are two daughters, Susan Martin Safford (b. 1822) and Mary Safford, who holds a closed umbrella. Both girls wear white dresses with pink ribbons.
