Previously, this portrait was identified as Janet (Jordan) McClarran (1821-1882). However, the historial society believes it is actually a portrait of Lizzie C. (Deer) McClarran, the first wife of Judge John C. McClarran and the daughter of Jacob Deer, a local contractor/builder and Marietta (Workman) Deer. Lizzie and John McClarran were married in 1885, to which union were born two sons, Wade Dewitt, born July 24, 1886, and John Walter, born October 1, 1887. Lizzie McClarran died June 20, 1889 of a lung disease at the age of 27 and is buried in Wooster Cemetery.
