Description:
Three quarter length portrait of Mrs. Magoure and her daughter. Mrs. Magoure is seated on a red sofa. She is embracing her daughter who stands on the sofa, on her proper left. They both wear light-colored dresses and Mrs. Magoure also wears a shawl. The little girl has shoulder-length blonde hair and wears a hair ribbon and shoes.

Remarks:
The portrait was painted in Babylon, Long Island. It was not immediately accepted by Mrs. Magoure, and hung for a time in a New York gallery under the title "Sad-Faced Mother and Child."
