    Description: 
    The remains of a full-length portrait of Della Barnes seen standing. She wears Victorian dress, including a puff-sleeved blouse, of which only the pleaded skirt remains, draped on the proper left. Figure once had pulled back hair and had her proper right hand raised to her chest. Her proper left hand, most of which is missing, holds her skirt at the side, raising it. The toe of her proper right shoe protrudes from beneath the hem. The sculpture is mounted upon a square base.

    Remarks: 
    Sculpture marks the grave of Della Barnes (1874-1897), who died as a result of morphine poisoning. The sculpture has been the object of vandalism many times. IAS files contain following related articles: the Democrat (Paducah, KY), Oct. 9. 1967 (with photo of figure intact); and the Sun-Democrat (Paducah, KY), Jan. 25, 1968, pg. 2 (with photo of face of figure). IAS files also contain a related excerpt from Camille Wells' "Architecture of Paducah and McCracken County," pg. 154-156.
