    Interior scene depicting the Rev. and Mrs. John Atwood seated at a table, an open book resting on the table in front of each of them, and two of their daughters seated between them. To the left a young boy and girl are seated on a footstool, their attention directed toward an open book held on the lap of the young boy. Behind them there is a young girl seated in front of a piano, an open book on her lap. And to the right, here is a young boy, his right foot resting on the bottom rung of his father's chair, an open book in his lap. Behind him there is a fireplace and on the wall in the background there are two small paintings.
