    Description: 
    Group portrait of Mrs. Edward Burckhardt (ca. 1825-1891) and her daughter, Louise (1862-1892). Mrs. Burckhardt sits in an arm chair and holds a closed fan in one hand. Louise stands beside the chair with both hands clasped on the back. Behind her is an open doorway which leads the eye down a hallway through several rooms into the distance. At left is a table and a painting hung on the wall. At right is another table near Mrs. Burckhardt's chair.
