The sculpture was installed by Mary Reeves as a tribute to her late husband, singer Jim Reeves. Reeves was a country and pop music star during the 1950s and 1960s until his untimely death in a plane crash at the age of 39. The inscription on the record label in the guitar on the walkway reads: GENTLEMAN JIM/TIME/AUG. 20, 1923/JULY 31, 1964/JIM REEVES/PRODUCER/GOD.
