Description:
A large, round pioneer woman is seated on the ground scrubbing some clothing on an old-fashioned washboard. She sits with her bent proper right leg beneath her and her proper left knee raised. Her arms are extended forward with the palms of both hands placed side-by-side against some clothing on a washboard. Water runs through the woman's fingers, over the clothes, into a small bronze basin, and then into a stone basin below. The woman is barefoot and wears a sleeveless dress. Her hair is pulled back from her face and tied in a bun. Her hair has a dark gray patina, her dress a gray/blue patina and her body has a brown patina. The washboard, the clothing on the washboard, and the small bronze basin have a gray/blue patina.
