Description:
Ebisu, or Ebisu-san, the god of wealth and fortune, personifying candor, stands barefoot with his proper right foot positioned on a rock, wearing the costume and tall headgear of the ancient court. He holds up a long fishing pole in his upraised proper right hand and a large sea bream under his proper left arm. The sculpture is set in a garden setting overlooking a small pool.

Remarks:
Ebisu is specifically worshiped by tradesman and shopkeepers, and the sight of his face is supposed to make one happy. One of two mythological sculptures done by the fabricator, donated by Joe Fendley Sr., and sited at the garden. See also Daikoku (IAS record GA000273). Nearby plaque reads: This Garden is dedicated to a/warm and everlasting friend/ship between the people of/Elberton and the people of our/sister city Mure-Cho, Japan./Built by/John Harris Bailey/Ed Mims/Gift of Mrs. Kalsuko Nakatani/Nakatani Stone Co., Ltd./Mure-Cho, Japan,/1984/Aji Granite.
