Description:
Daikoku is one of the seven gods of luck, and is represented as an old man standing with his proper right foot on two bales of rice, holding a large cloth bag over his proper left shoulder and carrying a magic mallet in his proper right hand. He has a goatee and wears a flat "Daikoku cap." His stomach protrudes over his tied, knee-length robe. In mythology the rice bales stand for food and the bag on his shoulder holds all kinds of wealth, and the magic mallet will bring out anything one may desire. The sculpture is set on a small, square foundation in a garden-like setting overlooking a small pool.
