    Commissioned by the Executive Committee of the Mount Hope Cemetery Corporation per the bequest of Luther H. Peirce, a member of the Second Maine Regiment of Volunteers. IAS files contain a 1968 booklet from the Corporation entitled "Memorial to the Second Maine Regiment of Volunteers," which details a history of the regiment and the monument.
