    Remarks: 
    Samuel Ullman (1840-1924) was a Birmingham civic leader, educator and poet, renowned for his poem "Youth" written at the age of 70. "Youth" is said to have been an inspiration to a generation of post-war Japanese, as well as Americans. IAS files include a piece from the University's "Campus News," a schedule of the dedication activities, and the text of "Youth" in its entirety from the book "Samuel Ullman and Youth," [Birmingham], University of Alabama Press, 1993, by Margaret England Armbrester.
