Description:
An obelisk featuring a bronze rendition of the Enola Gay, a B-29 bomber, on its upper front side. The obelisk also mounts two inscribed plaques.

Remarks:
Erected by members and friends of the 509th Composite Group in memory of its members. Additional funding was provided by the Division of Historic Preservation and Archeology. The 509th Composite Group was the B-29 bomber group which dropped the two atomic bombs on Japan, ending World War II. Karl Quilter sculpted the airplane and Dean Wallin designed the overall memorial. A foundry in Heber City, Montana cast the airplane and Salt Lake Brass cast the plaques. IAS files contain a related brochure.
