    Remarks:
Gambrinus is a mythical Flemish king credited with being the first brewer of beer. He is associated with Jan Primus, or John the 1st, ruler of Brussels in the 13th century and president of the Brewers' Guild. The sculpture was brought to Syracuse from Austria by Benedict Haberle in 1881 and placed in a niche in Haberle's Brewery. In May 1932, the sculpture was mounted on a float for a beer parade. Brancato's Pasteria acquired the piece after Haberle's Brewery closed in 1964, and installed it on the roof of the restaurant. In Nov. 1991, the figure was painted, a broken arm was replaced, and hairline cracks were filled in. In 1996. the Onondaga Historical Association acquired the sculpture, conservered it, and installed it inside in October 1999.
