Portrait of Lydia Cassatt seated on a chair in the garden at Marly-le-Roi, where the Cassatt family spent the summer of 1880. She wears white gloves and a white bonnet, her attention directed down toward the crochet work held in her hands. Behind her is a row of red and purple coleus plants.
