Description:
This lunette, one of twenty-two along the second floor corridor, depicts the town of Herculaneum located along the Mississippi River between two limestone bluffs approximately a mile apart. The town buildings are seen on the right and the Mississippi River with boats docked along the banks is seen on the left. In the background there is one of the limestone cliffs where molten shot was dropped to the level below. The shot was then shipped all over the country.
