The artist returned home to Deerfield, Massachusetts to take care of the family farm during 1861-1875. According to "George Fuller: His Life and Works, A Memorial Volume," Houghton Mifflin and Co., 1886, during this period, the artist painted small intimate landscapes influenced by the French Barbizon painters whose style he discovered during his trip to France in 1859.
