Description:
A young woman sits in front of the monument's base, her chin cupped in her proper right hand, and holding a wreath of flowers in her proper left hand. The woman is barefoot and her long hair flows down her back. She wears a long-sleeved, ankle-length gown. The sculpture is mounted on a tiered, rectangular base that is decorated with reliefs and capped by an urn. The back of the base has a relief of a wreath with palm leaves through it.

Remarks:
The sculpture has been vandalized and broken several times. In November 1987, vandals broke the head and proper right hand of the figure. The broken parts have been rebuilt and replaced where possible. IAS files contain a related article from the Marshall News Messenger, Dec. 18, 1987, pg. 5A.
