    (Plaque on west side of outer basin wall:) "IN MEMORY OF PRIVATE HENRY L. WYATT/EDGECOMBE GUARDS KILLED JUNE 10 - 1861/FIRST AT BETHEL - ERECTED BY DIXIE-LEE/CHAPTER, CHILDREN OF THE CONFEDERACY/AUGUST 3 - 1910. (Plaque on the gate of fence has a corroded inscription)
    Description: 
    A fountain with basin surrounded by a fence. The fountain consists of a shaft rising out of a large basin. The shaft, decorated as a vine-wrapped tree trunk, has two florate saucers and a pierced ring for spouting water. The main basin has a blue interior and eight decorated, exterior sides. At four of the corners are ornamented urns supporting studded globes and the other four corners have pillars topped with lamps. Each urn has four lion heads, holding rings in their mouths. The encircling fence has a Chinese-style gate on the west side; the gate has a shield-shaped plaque with an inscription.

    Remarks: 
    Erected by the Dixie-Lee chapter of Children of the Confederacy in memory of Private Henry L. Wyatt. Wyatt was a member of the Edgecombe Guards and was killed June 10, 1861.
