Remarks:
The sculpture is a memorial to Nathan Wasserman, a longtime resident and social activist in Stamford. He loved the sea and was an avid swimmer who frequented Cummings Beach, site of the memorial. The sculpture was commissioned by friends. A plaque in front of the base reads: IN MEMORY OF/NATHAN WASSERMAN/BELOVED FRIEND/DR. & MRS. WILLIAM ROSENFIELD. A second plaque reads: SEA LOVER/1986/SCULPTOR/WILLIAM P. KATZ. IAS files contain related news clipping from The Ledger (Stamford, CT), Oct. 29, 1986.
