    Remarks:
Erected in memory of Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt by fifty of his friends in England and the United States. Designed as drinking fountains for people and horses, adjustments were made to the surrounding area, including a footpath and a widening of the curb, to accommodate drinkers. This is no longer a working fountain. IAS files include a related article from the Newport Daily News July 7, 1917 which has a picture of the fountain before the loss of the horse driver and other parts.
