The Grotto is staffed by the Order of the Servants of Mary. It was founded in 1924 by Servite Friar Ambrose Mayer, who envisioned a place of retreat for experiencing the presence of God in nature. The sculptures were added at later various times. Station 5 was a gift from Lawrence R. Fillion, Station 6 from the children of Mr. & Mrs. W. A. Strach, Station 12 from Phil Brady and Station 14 from Mary V. Collier. IAS files include the titles of each Station, and a pamphlet and brochure drafts from the Grotto.
