    Description: 
    A Civil War soldier, dressed in a knee-length coat with shoulder cape, long trousers, boots, and a brimmed cap. He stands at parade rest holding the barrel of a rifle with both hands. The butt of the rifle rests by his proper left foot. The sculpture is placed atop a tiered base.

    Remarks: 
    Joseph Spratt was born in 1831 and studied at West Point. He fought in the Civil War and died in 1865. The G.A.R. post was named in his honor.
