    Description: 
    A large cross with a Gothic quatre-foil ornamentation around the top is set on a tall square base that is adorned on the north and south faces with a lion's head fountain spout. Water pours from each lion's mouth into an octagonal granite basin. The basin is painted light blue.

    Remarks: 
    The fountain commemorates Reverend William Scott Southgate (1831 or 1833-1899), rector of Saint Anne's Parish in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, for thirty years. It was erected by the citizens of Annapolis and his parishioners. For related reading see: William K.
