Description:
Sculpture consists of tall center stone column with the seal of confederate flag at top and inscriptions below it. The center column is flanked by two angled stone columns, one on each side. The column on the left has a relief panel depicting a standing female figure dressed in pioneer dress and holding a baby in her arms. The second female figure is sitting in a chair, also dressed in the same fashion and reaching out for the baby. The relief panel on the column on the right side depicts a woman handing a flag to a soldier who is saluting the flag. There is a group of soldiers behind him and a group of women behind her waving at the soldiers.

Remarks:
Gift of William Alexander Smith to his mother Eliza Syndor Nelme Smith and to Mary Bennett Smith, Nannie Flak Smith. Inscriptions on center column indicate that the memorial is to women of the confederacy. IAS files contain text of inscriptions on the sculpture as well as text of nearby plaque.
