    Description: 
    Gravestone consisting of a smooth truncated column. The top of the column is cut off at an angle. On the front face of the round column is a bas-relief of "Alphabet of Creation".

    Remarks: 
    Ben Shahn was a sculptor and artist who resided in Roosevelt. He designed the "Alphabet of Creation", a stylized Hebrew alphabet, which became his signature work. The gravestone was designed by Bernarda Shahn, wife of Ben Shahn. IAS files contain copy of related article from U.S. 1, Aug. 17, 1994, pg. 28-31.
