RIDLEY/FEB.21,1862./OCT.5,1889./This memorial/is a husband's tribute to a beloved wife who was the/desire of his eyes and filled every want of his nature. Her/life, a form of beauty rich in every womanly grace and/value was by death crowned with all it needed,Immortality./She is gone to the Mountain of Myrrh and to the hill of Fran-/insence (sic) until the day break and shadows flee away./RIDLEY (Back of base:) He giveth His beloved sleep. signed
Description:
A young woman stands wearing a long cape latched with a brooch over a buttoned, full-length, gathered gown. She has long flowing hair that comes over her proper right shoulder. Her proper right hand cradles flowers and her proper left hand touches a rustic cross by her side that is draped in a flower garland with a scroll before it. The sculpture is mounted upon a multitiered base and is the gravemarker for Nannie Moses Ridley, 1862-1889.
