FOUNDERS/BOSTON/Mass 1937 (On plaque on base, front:) THIS MONUMENT IS/ERECTED AND DEDICATED/TO PATRIOTISM/AND IN HONOR OF THOSE/WHO ANSWERED THE CALL/OF THEIR COUNTRY/AND FOR THOSE WHO GAVE/THEIR LIVES IN THE/CIVIL WAR/1861-1865 (On plaque on base, rear:) IN MEMORY OF/JOSEPH REANEY/1836-1870/FIFTH NEW YORK/VOLUNTEER INFANTRY/DURYEE ZOUAVES/BY HIS SON/JOSEPH H. REANEY/1937 unsigned Founder's mark appears. Description:  Full-length uniformed Union soldier stands on a rough-hewn pedestal and base. The figure wears a long caped coat and cap. He holds his rifle with bayonet in both hands with the butt by his proper right foot. The figure's stance is "at ease."
