    Remarks:
This memorial is in honor of William Peak and Henry Iler, Chattanooga firemen who died in a fire at the Bee Hive Store (1886). The fountain was purchased through a Fireman's Fund started by the Chattanooga Times newspaper. Part of the money was raised by selling copies of a poem dedicated to the firemen for ten cents a copy. The original cast iron figure of the fireman toppled and smashed in the catch basin in Oct. 1961. An aluminum replacement figure was fabricated by Mar-Kay Industries of Chattanooga in April 1962.
