    Remarks:
The sculpture commemorates Alan Thayer Mudge, 1972-1990, a graduate of Dover-Sherborn Regional High School. Mudge fell to his death in the Canary Islands while on shore leave from the Soviet Naval-Training sailing ship "Druzhba." Mudge was one of the crew members on the ship's first joint Soviet-American crossing. The hawk, about to fly, symbolizes the stage in life that Alan Mudge had reached.
