(On upper front of sculpture:) CHARLES/METCALFE/PARK (On plaque on front of sculpture:) Charles Metcalfe Park dedicated in memory of Charles Metcalfe, 1855-1943. He deeded in perpetuity this land as a park for the use of Kingman youth. Recognized as a civic leader and land developer, he proposed development of Hualapai Mountain Park. He held offices of Mohave County Probate Judge, Superintendent of Schools, Kingman U.S. Postmaster. Officer and member of B.P.O.E. (Elks) and the Masonic Lodge. This monument built in the centennial year 1882-1982. unsigned
Description:
Four-sided sculpture. The front has a plaque and the memorial's name. A wagon wheel is partially embedded in one side and various tools, including a jackhammer, are partially embedded in the opposite side. On the back is a section of smaller inlaid stones, creating a map of Arizona and an early American grain grinding stone above the map. The base forms a bench surrounding the sculpture.
