Remarks:
This sculpture of Cuban freedom fighter Jose Marti (1853-1895) was commissioned by the Miami Arts in Public Places Committee (by July 1983 Resolution #83-652) at a cost of $26,000. According to the artist, the linked circles symbolize Marti's legacy of triumph of liberty over political bondage. The sword symbolizes the force that is sometimes needed for freedom.
