Description:
Art Nouveau style relief of a seated woman in a contemplative mood, in proper left profile. Her proper right hand supports her head, her proper left arm rests on her raised proper left knee. She is dressed in long robes and a swirl of drapery encircles her head. On the rear of the sculpture are the Federal Seal on the left and the Massachusetts State Seal on the right.

Remarks:
The monument marks the graves of William Edwards Murdock (1844-1918), and his wife, Harriet Eliza Marcy (1846-1932). William Murdock enlisted in the 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry at the age of seventeen and served throughout the Civil War. IAS files contain copies of cemetery records including correspondence from the Harrison Granite Company dated May 17, 1918 and October 8, 1918.
