    Description: 
    Sandstone and marble fountain consisting of an architectural element centered along a low back wall. A semi-circular fountain pool stands in front. The roof of the architectural element is arched and supported by four columns. There is a niche carved in the center facade of the element; a bas-relief lion's head water spout is carved near the top of the niche. Two globes top the outer ends of the low back wall.

    Remarks: 
    The fountain was a bequest to the county by Alleine Lord in memory of her brother John H. Lord, a prominent businessman in Somerville. Cost of the fountain was more than $14,000; $2,000 of which was bequeathed by Lord. The pipes to the fountain were removed ca. 1940 for use in the war effort.
