Located Pachaug Green, opposite 2 Browning Road at S.R. 138, Griswold, Connecticut
Remarks:
The fountain was a gift to the town of Griswold given in honor of her father and brother by Mary Elizabeth Lester. The Lester family first moved to Griswold in 1720. Later they moved to New York where they were successful in business. The fountain is said to be a duplicate of one then located in New York City. The Greenwich fountain originally stood "near the store" on the Green and has since been moved twice due to road construction. IAS files contain related newspaper article dated Oct. 19, 1903 which suggests F. E. Williams was the cutter and Frank LaPoint the erector. The site is marked with a Connecticut Historical Commission sign.
