    Remarks:
According to the SOS! survey, the artist named the piece "Johnny Appleseed," but the school board changed the name to "Early Settler" in honor of a local settler named Jared Potter Kirkland. IAS files contain a transcription of the text describing Kirkland that is carved into the marble wall of the auditorium lobby. IAS files contain related articles from the Cleveland Press, Sept. 18, 1954; the Plain Dealer (Cleveland, OH), Dec. 5, 1954 and Aug. 14, 1983; and the Sun Post, July, 9, 1987.
