    Description:
The lintel bears a wreath of laurel and daisies with the class of 1886's motto, "To Kalon" (The Beautiful); the school motto, "Non Misitrari Sed Ministrare" (Not to be served but to serve); and a dedication to Horsford. A garland of oak, acrons, hyacinths, and daisies frames the lintel. The doors are both divided into three panels, framed by the same garland as the lintel. The main panel of the left door depicts Wisdom as an old bearded man in classical robes and carrying a book. The right door depicts Love as a young woman in classical robes reaching down to a nude child standing by her knee. The top panel of each door contains a flaming urn and two serpents. The oak and acorn represent Wellesley College and the hyacinth recalls a gift Professor Horsford made to the members of the Class of 1886.
