    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a uniformed Union soldier at parade rest stands atop a tall shaft and two-tiered base. He wears a caped coat and a cap and holds his rifle in front of him with both hands around the barrel and the butt near his proper right foot. There is relief at the base of the shaft of pair of crossed rifles draped with a flag. There is a plaque on the rear of the base which honors Sgt. Thomas Horan. Below the text of the plaque is a locomotive pulling a single train car.
