(On plaque on front of base, raised:) FOR GOD AND COUNTRY./IN MEMORY OF/JOSEPH HASSENFORDER,/WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE/AND IN HONOR OF THE BOYS OF/SECAUCUS,/WHO SERVED THEIR COUNTRY/IN THE WORLD WAR/1917 --1918./ERECTED BY THE CITIZENS/OF SECAUCUS, N.J.

A figure of a World War I soldier, dressed in a military uniform consisting of waist-length coast, britches, boots, rounded helmet and knapsack, stands upon a section of stylized land with a small tree stump behind him. He holds a rifle out to his side with his proper left hand. The statue is placed atop a two-tiered base.
