Remarks:
The sculpture was erected as a gift from John H. Harvey and his children in memory of his wife, Viginia Tross Harvey, a Dover Township women who died in 1985. Mr. Harvey donated $5,000 for the sculpture, a donation matched by the Library. The Ocean County Library was one of Mrs. Harvey's favorite places. She was an avid lover of books, the arts, and cats. The sculpture was created by Clifton Sheely, a staff member of the Johnson Atelier, who used his niece as a model. Nearby plaque reads: IN MEMORY OF VIRGINIA TROSS/HARVEY, A LOVER OF ART, MUSIC, BOOKS/JUNE 6, 1987. IAS files contain a copy of the dedication program.
