    Description: 
    Fountain figures are installed on a round disk in a shallow round pool in a square basin. The figures are two female nudes who share the same head and have a total of three arms. The lower figure bends toward the pool to wash her face. She splashes water to her face with her proper left hand and her proper right hand is dipped into the water. The second figure's body rises upward vertically, from the same head, feet raised up in the air. This figure also has an additional proper right arm extending outward.

    Remarks: 
    A memorial fountain honoring Bishop Melvin Hammarberg. The sculpture is cast no. 2/2. (The first cast is installed in the courtyard of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis.) The Greek inscription on the fountain plinth is a palindrome (can be read from the left or right), used by Emperor Justinian on the facade of the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. IAS files contain related excerpt from College brochure "Granlund in the Linnaeus Arboretum and Sculpture Gardens...," n.d.
