The gravestone for Emerson Hamilton. The relief figure of what may be a gladiator or early Roman soldier stands, carved from the large slab base behind it. The figure wears a helmet, robe, and breastplate, with proper right leg completely covered and proper left leg exposed to the thigh. His proper right arm is raised to waist length and his hand is in the straps of a round shield, which is partially behind him. His proper left arm is by his side and holds a large palm frond that extends upward almost beyond his helmet. Two pillars on the base flank the figure, with a box cornice and frieze towards the top. The base is multitiered and contains inscriptions above and below the figure.
