Remarks:
Memorial commemorates the pioneer settlers of Burnet County, Texas, including Samuel E. Holland (first settler, 1848), Logan Vandeveer, Peter Kerr, William M. Magill, Noah Smithwick, Jesse Burnam, R. H. Hall, General Adam R. Johnson, and Captain Christian Dorbandt. The memorial was erected by the State of Texas with funds appropriated by the federal government to commemorate 100 years of Texas independence. It was dedicated in conjunction with the Centennial Celebration.
