Prior/1843 signed Description:  Portrait of William Allen seated in a landscape with his two dogs, his body facing front, his gaze directed toward the viewer, his left hand holding a small bouquet of flowers in his lap, and his right hand resting on one of his dogs. The other dog stands on his left side. The boy wears an of-the-shoulder dress with white pantaloons and black shoes. Nearby on the ground is a straw hat tied with a ribbon.
