THE PIONEER OF WORKS OF INTERNATIONAL IMPROVEMENT IN HIS NATIVE STATE AND FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE CENTRAL RAILROAD AND BANKING COMPANY OF GEORGIA TO WHICH HE GAVE HIS TALENTS AND FINALLY HIS LIFE. (On monument face:) ERECTED A.D. 1882 BY THE CENTRAL RAILROAD AND BANKING COMPANY OF GEORGIA IN HONOR OF A BRAVE MAN A FAITHFUL AND DEVOTED OFFICER AND TO PRESERVE HIS NAME IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF HIS FELLOW CITIZENS Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    A tall monument of red and gray granite. The monument is topped by an orb which is supported on the backs of cherubs. The cherubs sit on an ornate tiered cap which rests on the top of four high columns. At the base of the columns and centered amidst them is an ornate urn. The columns rest on a multi-tiered pedestal, on the faces of which are carved text and decorative reliefs. The monument sits in the middle of a fenced, planted square.
