In 1843, Do-Hum-Me accompanied her father to treaty negotiations, where she met Cow-Hick-Kee, a member of another Indian delegation. They married and traveled to New York City where they attracted the attention of P.T. Barnum, who hired them to perform war and wedding danced in his American Museum on the corner of Broadway and Ann Streets. Five weeks after the wedding, Do-Hum-Me died, and this monument was erected in her honor by her friends, including P.T. Barnum.
